
Kane County Cougars Fans Enjoy Inaugural One Cent Wiener Wednesday

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars held the organization's inaugural One Cent Wiener Wednesday at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark Wednesday evening. Despite the final score, a 3-1 Cougars loss to the Bowling Green Hot Rods (not Hot Dogs), fans enjoyed themselves to the tune of more than 5,000 hot dogs that were consumed, despite a fast-paced two hour, 25-minute game.
Other "One Cent Wiener Wednesday" dates for the 2015 season include July 8, July 22, July 29 and August 12.
By the numbers:
Buying one hot dog for the combined populations of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Geneva, Illinois: $831.82
Buying one hot dog for each player and coach on the Cougars and Hot Rods plus 2 umpires: 58 cents
The Kane County Cougars, Major League affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, are the only Major League affiliated Minor League Baseball team in the Chicagoland area and are celebrating the organization's 25th anniversary season in 2015. In 2013, the Cougars became the first Class-A team in Minor League Baseball history to reach 10 million fans.
