
Captains Fall in Wisconsin

Lake County Captains News Release
(Appleton, WI) -The Lake County Captains entered their first game against a western division opponent on Wednesday night coming off being swept for the first time all season. The streak continued on Wednesday as the Captains allowed a run in the bottom of the eighth inning before falling to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 3-2.
The Captains took the early lead with two runs in the top of the third inning. Francisco Mejia walked to start the inning. David Armendariz followed with a single. Both runners were then sacrificed into scoring position by Ordomar Valdez. Mejia would score on Greg Allen's RBI ground out to second. Armendariz would also score on Claudio Bautista's RBI single.
Wisconsin would tie the game in the bottom half of the inning. Alan Sharkey would start the inning by reaching on Bobby Bradley's fielding error. A Sean Brady balk would then move him to second. With two outs Francisco Castillo singled to score Sharkey. Castillo would come around to score as well on Sthervin Matos' RBI double.
The game would remain scoreless until the bottom of the eighth inning. Brandon Diaz singled to start the inning. A passed ball would move him to second before Castillo would move him to third on an infield bunt single. A Matos RBI fielder's choice would score Diaz with the eventual game winning run.
Sean Brady started for the Captains and went 5.0 innings. He allowed 2 runs, all unearned, on just 4 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 7. Caleb Hamrick would follow with 2 innings of scoreless relief. He allowed 2 hits and walked 1 while striking out 1. David Speer (2-3) took the loss in 1.0 inning of relief. He allowed 1 run, unearned, on 1 hit.
With the loss the Captains have lost four in a row for the first time all season. They also saw their record drop to 25-27.
The Captains and Timber Rattlers continue their series on Thursday night at 8:05. The Captains will send Anderson Polanco to the mound. The game can be heard on 1330AM WINT.
