ELMIRA - Erupting for five unanswered goals, including four in the third period, the Elmira Jackals (1-0-0-0) skated pasted the Kalamazoo Wings (0-1-0-0) 6-2 Friday night at the First Arena.

Fast starts have become the norm for the K-Wings. Kalamazoo scored in the opening five minutes in all three preseason games and on Friday that trend played on during the regular season.

Rookie forward Dane Fox (1st) scored to give Kalamazoo the lead with a wrister from just inside the left circle 2:46 into the game.

Kalamazoo didn't capitalize on any of their three power-play chances in the period and Elmira made them pay for it midway in the stanza. Andrew Conboy (1st) evened the game at 1-1 by knocking in a Paul Mcllveen rebound.

Fox figured in the K-Wings scoring in the second period. With Ludwig Blomstrand (1st) crashing the net, Fox fed a centering pass to the forward to give the K-Wings a 2-1 advantage.

Just as they did in the first period, Elmira responded midway in the period, this time with a power-play goal from Steven Shamanski (1st) to bring the game even.

Busting the game open 5:01 into the final period Elmira's Taylor Stefishen (1st) power-play goal completed a comeback for the Jackals.

Elmira continued to swarm the blue paint near the K-Wings net six minutes later with an insurance marker from Thomas Nesbitt (1st).

In the final two minutes of regulation, Allan McPherson (1st) tacked on an empty-netter, while Brodie Reid (1st) concluded the scoring.

Kalamazoo will continue a three-game road swing with the middle-leg of the trip tomorrow, Saturday, October 18th with a 7:05 p.m. encounter at the First Arena against Elmira.

The K-Wings home opener will occur on Friday, October 24th versus Fort Wayne Komets at Wings Stadium during their 11th Annual Orange Ice Game. Fans are encouraged to dress in costumes and participate in Halloween festivities.
