Brampton Beast News Release
BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast Hockey Club along with #32 Cal Wild are excited to announce the re-launch of the Cal's Pals community outreach program for the upcoming 2014-2015 season.
After a successful inaugural year in 2013-2014, Cal's Pals will be expanding from working exclusively with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel to supporting multiple local initiatives throughout the year, including the Peel branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the 'I Love to Read' month at Brampton-area schools, and various food and toy drives during the holidays.
"I thought we did a great job kick-starting the program last year and I hope to grow it further in hopes of making an even greater impact in the local community," said Wild of the initiative. "I enjoyed the relationship that I built with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel last season and I hope to continue to strengthen and develop similar relationships with the various initiatives I will be working with throughout the year."
In recognition of his efforts last season, Wild won the coveted CHL Man of the Year Award, presented annually to the CHL player who 'best exemplifies strong leadership qualities on and off the ice, while making significant and noteworthy humanitarian contributions to their community'. He attended over 200 events before the season officially began and has since logged over 900 community service hours.
In order to increase the impact of his outreach program this season, Wild is encouraging the local community to get involved. Wild will be making a personal donation of $20 for every goal he scores and $10 for each assist to the initiative of the month, and is looking for organizations and corporate partners in the area to support him in his pledge.
