
K-Wings Captains Announced

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders and American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announce its captains for the upcoming 2010-11 season, which begins this Friday, October 22nd in Toledo, Ohio against the Walleye.
Wearing the letters on this year's team will be forwards Sam Ftorek, Kory Karlander, and defenseman Wes O'Neill.
"With the amount of leadership we have in our locker room, selecting the captains for this year's team was more difficult than most," said Nick Bootland, director of hockey operations/head coach. "The players we have selected have demonstrated throughout their careers that they are quality individuals that possess the ability to lead by example, as well as be vocal leaders."
A four-year pro, O'Neill will wear the "C" for the K-Wings. The newly appointed captain is entering his first season with the K-Wings and has played five games of his career in the NHL with the Colorado Avalanche.
Assistant captains for the 2010-11 season will be Ftorek and Karlander. Ftorek, who is a 13-year veteran, is entering his second season with the K-Wings, while Karlander, who is entering his 16th season as a professional season, is returning for his sixth season with Kalamazoo, after spending the past two seasons in the Central Hockey League with the Odessa Jackalopes.
Kalamazoo will open up the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, October 23rd versus the defending Kelly Cup champion's, the Cincinnati Cyclones, with a 7:30 p.m. face-off at Wings Stadium during the 7th annual Orange Ice game featuring a Miller Lite indoor pre-game tailgate party with live music from the very popular Bronk Bros. Band along with and the raising of the 2009-10 North Division banner, a $300 Halloween Costume contest, a FREE Meijer Magnetic Schedule for everyone and much more.
The K-Wings and Cyclones will also square off this Sunday, October 24th at 4 p.m. at Wings Stadium. Sunday's encounter will be the first Family Hockey Day in the 'Zoo. During all Sunday games, all kids will eat FREE and the first 500 kids will receive a FREE giveaway item. This Sunday the first 500 kids will receive a Pepsi Silly Bandz.
Season and single-game tickets for the upcoming 2010-2011 season are on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office. Ticket Office hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information, please call Wings Stadium Ticket Office during regular business hours at (269) 345-5101.
Tickets for all K-Wings home games range in price from $9.90-$14.90 for adults and only $6.90 for kids ages 12 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice game and New Year's Eve game) are just $1 more.
Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single game tickets in advance because on the day of a game, K-Wings tickets are $1 more.
