
Salmon Kings Sign Gabe Gauthier

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have signed forward Gabe Gauthier for the 2010-11 season.
The native of Torrance, CA joins the Salmon Kings after four full seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Manchester Monarchs. Last season Gauthier scored 35 points (8g-27a) with 36 minutes in penalty across 71 appearances. He also dressed for 16 Calder Cup Playoff games this past spring notching seven goals and four assists for 11 points with eight penalty minutes.
His best offensive year in Manchester came during the 2007-08 campaign where he posted 60 points (23g-27a) in 61 games with 43 minutes in penalties, being named to the AHL All-Star Game. In 270 career games with the Monarchs spread over the past four seasons, Gauthier has amassed 179 points (57g-122a) and 165 penalty minutes.
The 5-9, 205 lb forward has also played in eight National Hockey League (NHL) contests with the Los Angeles Kings between the 2006-07 and 2007-08 campaigns, where he registered no points and two minutes in penalties.
The 26-year-old Gauthier has appeared in 278 professional games, scoring 57 goals and adding 122 assists for 179 points with 167 penalty minutes. He has also dressed for 35 professional playoff games, accumulating 16 points (8g-8a) and 26 penalty minutes over that time.
Prior to turning professional, Gauthier enjoyed a four-year junior career with the NCAA's University of Denver Pioneers. In 162 games at school he tallied 150 points (64g-86a) and served 141 minutes in penalties. In two of his four years as a Pioneer, Gauthier led the team in scoring, and celebrated back-to-back NCAA National Championships (2004 and 2005).
