TIED FOR LONGEST LOSING STREAK OF THE SEASON - With the 3-0 loss to the Somerset Patriots last night, the Sea Dogs have tied their longest losing streak of the season with four games. The last time Portland lost four-in-a-row was 6/10-6/13 against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
WHERE DO WE STAND - The Sea Dogs sit in second place in the Northeast Division of the Northeast League. They are now 6.0 games out of first place behind the Somerset Patriots. The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are 10.0 games out of first place and trail the Sea Dogs by 4.0 games.
WRAPPING UP THE HOMESTAND - The Sea Dogs wrap up the six-game homestand this afternoon with the Somerset Patriots at 1pm. Portland will then travel to New Hampshire to face the Fisher Cats for a six-game series in Manchester. The Sea Dogs will return to Hadlock Field beginning on July 6th for a six-game series against the Hartford Yard Goats.
YE SHALL NOT PASS FIRST BASE - Portland did not record an extra base hit last night against the Somerset Patriots. Tate Matheny (2) and Pedro Castellanos were the only two batters to record hits against the Patriots pitching staff. Portland recorded nine groundouts, four flyouts and were struck out 11 times in the 3-0 loss.
PATRIOTS LIKE THE LONG BALL - Somerset has recorded at least one home run in all but one game this series. In total, they have hit six home runs, 16 doubles, two triples and 26 RBI. They are batting .266 against the Portland pitching staff while the Sea Dogs are batting .209 against the Patriots.
LOWEST IN MILB - Grant Williams has the lowest strikeout percentage in all levels of Minor League Baseball. He has struck out just nine times in 127 at-bats which means he strikeouts just 7.08% of the time.
ON THE MOUND - LHP Enmanuel De Jesus makes his second start of the series this afternoon against the Patriots. De Jesus last pitched 6/23 and tossed 2.1 innings allowing six runs on four hits while walking two and striking out one.
