SATURDAY NIGHT SORROW - Despite an early 3-0 lead, the Portland Sea Dogs fell to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5-3 on Saturday night. Binelas stepped up to the plate and blasted a three-run homer, giving Portland a 3-0 lead in the second inning. New Hampshire fought back with a run in the bottom of the second against Portland starter Yusniel Padron-Artiles. Orelvis Martinez hit a leadoff single and Tyler Keenan walked, putting runners at first and second. Davis Schneider doubled to left, scoring Martinez, cutting into the Sea Dogs lead 3-1. The Fisher Cats added another run in the bottom of the fourth with Padron-Artiles still on the mound. With one out in the inning, Martinez crushed a solo home run to left. It was his 20th homer of the year and brought the Fisher Cats within one run, 3-2. The tying run came around to score for New Hampshire in the bottom of the seventh inning against Portland reliever Dylan Spacke. With one out, Ryan Gold hit a home run to right-center. It was his fifth of the season and tied the game 3-3. New Hampshire took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the eighth with Portland reliever Oddanier Mosqueda on the mound. With one out, Addison Barger hit a line drive home run to right. It was his second homer of the series and put the Fisher Cats on top 4-3. New Hampshire added another run on a balk from Portland reliever Rio Gomez, expanding their lead 5-3. The Sea Dogs went down in order in the top of the ninth, falling short of the Fisher Cats 5-3.

WHERE DO WE STAND - The Sea Dogs maintain the top spot in the Northeast Division of the Eastern League. Portland is 14-6 and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. The Hartford Yard Goats are in second place, 1.5 game behind Portland and are currently riding a six-game winning streak. The Yard Goats and Sea Dogs will go head-to-head beginning Tuesday in Hartford for a six-game series.

HAMILTON AND KOSS CONTINUE TO GET ON BASE - David Hamilton and Christian Koss currently have the longest on-base streaks for the Sea Dogs. Hamilton is currently riding a 14-game on base streak and is hitting .255 with three homers, five RBI and 11 stolen bases. Koss has reached base safely in nine consecutive games and is batting .324 with eight RBI and two homers.

COTTAM KEEPS SHINING - Kole Cottam is on a five-game hitting streak with the Sea Dogs. During those five games, he is batting .400 with two doubles, two triples and seven RBI. He has increased his season batting average to .266 and on base percentage to .348.

FACING THE FISHER CATS - The Sea Dogs are 8-9 this season against the Fisher Cats and are 3-5 at Delta Dental Stadium. Portland is hitting .246 against New Hampshire with 22 doubles and 10 home runs. The Sea Dogs pitching staff has a 4.16 ERA against the Fisher Cats.

DAVID ORTIZ IS INDUCTED TO THE HALL OF FAME - Today, David Ortiz will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Big Papi played for the Sea Dogs in three games as part of a rehab assignment in 2008. Ortiz went two-for-eight with two runs, an RBI and two walks in his three games with Portland.

THIS DAY IN SEA DOGS HISTORY - July 24, 2015 - Portland scored 10 runs over innings 2-4, smacking out 21 hits in a 10-5 win over New Hampshire. Oscar Tejeda went 4-for-4, 2 RBI and reached base five times. David Chester finished 3-for-5, 3 RBI.

PITCHING MATCHUP - RHP Brian Van Belle takes the mound this afternoon for the Sea Dogs. His last outing was July 1st against the Somerset Patriots and tossed 5.0 innings allowing four runs (all earned) on eight hits while walking one and striking out eight. Van Belle has faced the Fisher Cats once. It was the only time this year he has come out of the bullpen was June 29th and pitched 5.0 innings allowing three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out a season-high 10 hitters.
