Reading Drops Back-and-Forth Contest to Somerset

The Reading Fightin Phils dropped a tough contest 7-4 to the Somerset Patriots on a hot Sunday night. The lead changed hands five times throughout the game.

Somerset got the first run of the game on Rodolfo Duran's RBI double.

The Fightins tied it up and took the lead in the fifth with Sal Gozzo and Simon Muzziotti's run scoring singles.

Max Burt homered to tie it up again at two runs apiece.

The Patriots took the lead once more as Chad Bell's groundout plated a run.

The FIghtins were back again as Vito Friscia drove home both Jonathan Guzman and Gozzo to make it 4-3.

Somerset got on top with back-to-back solo shots off the bat of Everson Pereira and Austin Wells. The opponents led 5-4.

A commanding two-run blast by Duran sealed the deal in the bottom of the eighth making it 7-4 Somerset.

Colton Eastman got the start, throwing five innings. He entered the second allowing a walk and a hit and left without any outs. He was issued three runs, although two earned and struck out a season high seven.

Trevor Bettencourt got out of the sixth with a double play ball and a strikeout. He let up back to back solo shots in the seventh.

Francisco Morales walked a batter but was taken out by the trainer.

Matt Seelinger came in to finish the eighth. The righty allowed a two-run home run.
