
Sea Dogs Drop Series Finale 9-7 to Fisher Cats

Manchester, New Hampshire - The Portland Sea Dogs (44-46, 14-7) dropped the series finale to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (40-50, 9-12) 9-7 on Sunday afternoon. The Sea Dogs maintain the top spot in the Northeast Division of the Eastern League, 0.5 game ahead of the second-place Hartford Yard Goats.
The Sea Dogs were first to strike in the top of the first inning. David Hamilton led-off with an infield single then stole second and then third base. Christian Koss lined an RBI single to right field and Portland led, 1-0.
The Fisher Cats took the lead in the bottom of the same inning. After two consecutive singles by Rafaela Lantigua and Davis Schneider, Lantigua tied the game on an RBI lineout by Addison Barger. Schneider was able to cross the plate in a stolen base attempt by John Aiello and the Fisher Cats took the 2-1 lead.
Stephen Scott blasted his third home run of the season in the top of the second inning, tying the game 2-2.
The Fisher Cats took the 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth off a solo homer by Orelvis Martinez, his 21st of the season.
Portland came charging back in the top of the sixth inning. Back-to-back singles by Tyler Dearden and Wil Dalton plated both Scott and Kole Cottam putting the Sea Dogs ahead, 4-2. Ceddanne Rafala added another run to the tally when he hit into a force out at second base, allowing Dearden to score and the Sea Dogs led, 5-3.
In the bottom of the sixth, Phil Clarke drove home two more runs for the Fisher Cats with a two-run single off of Jacob Wallace and the game was tied, 5-5. Martinez then scored the leading run off a wild pitch and the Fisher Cats were back on top, 6-5.
In the top of the seventh, Hudson Potts hit his 10th homer of the year for Portland to tie the game again, 6-6.
Martinez drilled a three-run homer to left field to put New Hampshire back on top, 9-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Portland's final run came in the top of the ninth inning after Stephen Scott singled to right field, he scored on an RBI single by Cottam and the Sea Dogs fell, 9-7.
Sean Rackowski (5-1, 5.45 ERA) earned the win for the Fisher Cats, tossing 1.2 innings allowing one run on one hit while walking two and striking out three. Zach Bryant (1-4, 8.01 ERA) was given the loss pitching 1.0 inning allowing three runs on two hits while walking one and striking out two.
The Sea Dogs will have an off day tomorrow before returning to action on Tuesday, July 26th in Hartford to face the Yard Goats in the first of six games at 7:05pm.
