
Jones Honored by SAL

Charleston, WV - August 28, 2014 - The South Atlantic League has announced the selection of its 2014 Annual All-Star Team and one member of the West Virginia Power has been honored by the league. Jacoby Jones has been voted as the best shortstop in a league poll of the 14 South Atlantic League team's field managers, general managers, sports writers, and broadcasters.
Jones, the Pittsburgh Pirates third round draft choice in 2013, has appeared in 114 games for the Power this season and has a .292 average. The infielder has also hit a team-best 22 home runs and driven in 69 runs this season. Jones appeared in just 15 game for Jamestown during the 2013 season, making 10 appearances in the outfield, before a knee injury ended his season.
Asheville, Greensboro, Hagerstown and Savannah are well represented in this end-of-season All-Star list. Hagerstown boasts the Most Outstanding Pitcher and Most Outstanding Major League Baseball Prospect in Lucas Giolito, as well as the South Atlantic League's Most Valuable Player in Wilmer Difo. Asheville placed three position players on the list; third baseman Ryan McMahon along with outfielders David Dahl and Raimel Tapia. Greensboro nabbed honors with the selections of first baseman Felix Munoz and utility outfielder Carlos Lopez.
Savannah's Luis Rojas was tabbed as the Manager-of-the-Year while pitching coach Marc Valdes was also honored. Two Sand Gnats pitchers, John Gant and Akeel Morris, were also chosen as the best right-handed pitcher and reliever, respectively. Augusta's Luis Ysla was selected as the best left-hander in the league.
Delmarva, Greenville and Lakewood also had one representative on the All-Star Team each.
