
Shorebirds Game Notes at Greensboro

Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
PREVIEW: The Shorebirds dropped the middle game at Greensboro, as a close game turned into a blowout late as the Grasshoppers pounded the Shorebirds' relief corps. Delmarva led 2-1 be- fore the Grasshoppers scored ten unanswered runs from the sixth inning on. The two teams will square off in the rubber match in Delmarva's final road game of the year.
TODAY'S OPPONENT: Jarlin Garcia will start the series finale for the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The left-hander will make his 25th start of the season, having been in the Grasshoppers' rota- tion since Opening Day. Garcia has not recorded a win since July 1st, having lost three straight decisions. Garcia has started once against Delmarva, a loss back on July 17th without allowing an earned run in seven innings.
19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.
ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles lost to the Tampa Bay Rays, 3-1 on Wednesday evening. Deadline trade acquisition Drew Smyly outdueled Baltimore's Kevin Gausman in the game. Chris Davis hit his 23rd home run of the season for the O's only run. Baltimore currently leads the New York Yankees by six games.
RACE FOR A BATTING TITLE: Two Shorebirds are in the running for the league batting title at year's end. Chance Sisco (.335) and Drew Dosch (.314) are both in the top 8 in the South Atlantic League among qualifying hitters in batting average. Willians Astudillo leads the league with a .337 batting average, two points ahead of Sisco in second place. On Tuesday, Sisco went 1-for-4 while Astudillo went 0-for-2.

The Shorebirds' Opening Day starter was pro- moted to the Frederick Keys last week, tossing six shutout innings in his Carolina League debut. The left-hander leads Delmarva with nine wins. Brault leads the league in WHIP at 1.04, and he is 2nd in opponents' batting average (.227) and 4th in strikeouts (115). His 3.05 ERA ranks 6th in SAL.
WHO'S HOT - ANTHONY CARONIA
The Shorebirds' second baseman went 3-for- 4 on Tuesday night, raising his batting aver- age to .367 on the season. Caronia does not have enough at-bats to qualify for a batting title, having missed 7 weeks due to injury.
WHO ELSE - GREGORY LORENZO
The Shorebirds outfielder swiped another base on Saturday night, now 42 steals on the season. With 40 steals with Delmarva in 2013, and 6 in 2012, Lorenzo is the franchise record holder with 88 career stolen bases.
