Joliet, IL -- The Joliet Slammers, presented by ATI Physical Therapy, will travel to Coal City Friday to aid in the clean-up efforts and offer support to community members following Monday night's devastating tornado that occurred less than 30 miles from Silver Cross Field.

Coach Isom and a number of players will join Slammers' Director of Community Relations Ken Miller at the Coal City United Methodist Church at 6805 E McArdle Road Friday morning. Miller is a Coal City resident and member of the church that has served as a central relief station for displaced families and relief workers.

"This is a great opportunity for the Slammers to reciprocate the same support I've seen the Coal City community provide at our games over the years," Miller Said. "We're happy to help in any way we can."

In addition, the Slammers will host a donation drive for the Coal City community at this weekend's games on Friday, June 26, Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28. Needed items for clean-up and repair will be collected at the gates.

The Slammers are asking fans in attendance at this weekend's games to bring items from the following list provided by the Coal City United Methodist Church disaster relief team:

Sunscreen

Aloe

Bugs spray

Flash lights

Batteries

Ponchos

Fans who donate an item or items will receive a free ticket voucher for any future Joliet Slammers game during the 2015 season.

Donations will be taken to the United Methodist Church and distributed accordingly. Miller and other members of his church have been primarily responsible for offering meals to the families in need as well as relief workers. Red Cross has also set up there, offering aid to injured families and providing temporary sleeping arrangements. The church remains open 8 AM- 8PM for assistance.
