Oshawa Generals News Release

Oshawa, Ontario - December 1st, 2011 - The Oshawa Generals are pleased to announce that John Tavares, former Oshawa General and current New York Islanders assistant captain, will be contributing to the 14th Annual Teddy Bear Toss Night presented by RONA Whitby. John will be making a donation to the promotion for every teddy bear collected.

The Oshawa Generals organization is very thankful to John for all his work in contributing to the Durham Region. His donation through the Teddy Bear Toss will have a big impact this holiday season, putting smile on faces and making the winter a little warmer. This donation is only the most recent example of John's continuing support of the local community, as he recently launched the JT's Junior Generals program, to bring minor hockey teams out to Generals home games.

The Teddy Bear Toss is an annual initiative where fans attending the game are asked to bring a new or nearly new teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game on December 2nd. Immediately following the Generals first goal, fans will throw their bears or stuffed animals onto the ice surface. Every bear collected is donated to local charities as a way of giving back to the community.
