December 1, 2011 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

IceDogs captain Andrew Agozzino recorded a natural hat trick to lead Niagara to a 7-2 win over Erie on Thursday night.

Agozzino opened the scoring for the IceDogs at the 17:48 mark of the first period to give Niagara a 1-0 lead. Agozzino would score his second of the game moments later, tucking one passed Otter's netminder Ramis Sadikov with one second remaining on the clock. Mark Visentin made 10 saves in the period as the IceDogs took a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

Agozzino's hot hand would continue in the second as he finished off the natural hat trick with a goal just over five minutes into the period. Rookie Carter Verhaeghe would collect an assist on the play, giving him three points on the season. Mitchell Theoret would add his fifth of the season to extend the lead to 4-0. Visentin continued his strong play, stopping eight more shots to preserve the four goal lead.

Erie would answer with a goal in the third to cut the Niagara lead to three, but the IceDogs would restore the four goal lead when David Pacan converted his 14th of the season. Freddie Hamilton and Stephen Harper swapped goals just over midway through the period to make the score 6-2 in favour of the home side. Theoret would add a power play marker with two minutes left in the game to close the scoring, making it a 7-2 final.

The IceDogs will now have Friday off before hosting the Barrie Colts on Saturday at 7:00pm.
