DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced that the Iowa Stars have signed Center Jamie Johnson to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO) Tuesday afternoon.
Born on January 23rd, 1982 Johnson joins the Stars after playing 26 games with the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL this season. In those 26 games, he has notched 12 goals and 23 assists: 26(12/23/35). The 5-11, 185-pound forward appeared in 68 games for the Iowa Stars last season, posting nine goals and 28 assists: 68(9/28/37).
Registering more than a point per game, he appeared in 72 games during the 2004-05 season with the Lynx. The Port Franks, Ontario native scored 22 goals while adding 58 assists in his sophomore professional campaign: 72(22/58/80)26. He began his professional career in 2003-04 with the Louisiana IceGators of the East Coast Hockey League, now the ECHL.
IOWA STARS INFO: The Stars hit the road for games in Hamilton, Ontario on Wednesday and Friday and in Toronto on Saturday. Iowa returns to Wells Fargo Arena on Friday, January 12th for a 7:00 PM face-off with the Houston Aeros. Friday's game is KCWI Date Night. One lucky couple will win round trip airfare to Las Vegas courtesy of Allegiant Air and couples can purchase two tickets, two hot dogs and two cokes for just $23!
