Jim Paduch Named International League Pitcher of the Week
June 25, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - The International League today announced Jim Paduch as its Pitcher of the Week, covering games from June 18-24. Paduch is the second Bulls starter to garner the weekly award, following the recently promoted Chris Archer (May 7-13).
Right-hander Jim Paduch, winless in five straight starts entering the week, surrendered just one earned in 13.0 innings to post consecutive wins this week. A 3rd-inning solo homer by Rochester's Rene Rivera would be Paduch's only blemish in his start last Monday as the Bulls cruised to a 6-1 victory. Paduch tossed 6.0 strong frames, scattering a total of four hits and two walks while matching a season-high with five strikeouts. Facing Buffalo at home Saturday, Paduch went a season-high 7.0 innings and gave up just one unearned run as the Bulls were victorious by the score of 11-5. With the two wins this week, Paduch improved his record on the season to 4-5 and lowered his ERA more than a full run to 4.18.
The 29-year-old Paduch is in his eighth professional season and second with the Tampa Bay organization. He had just two games of experience at the Triple-A level prior to this season, having pitched once for Louisville in 2006 and once for Durham last year. Paduch is a native of Chicago, Illinois.
The Durham Bulls are in the midst of an eight game homestand, wrapping up a series with Buffalo today at 12:05pm before welcoming Syracuse for four games starting Tuesday night. Tickets for all Bulls regular season home games and the 2012 Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game are available online at durhambulls.com, by phone at 919.956.BULL, or in person at the DBAP ticket office.
