Former Scranton/Wilkes-Barre pitcher Daniel McCutchen (WP, 4-2) took over for Moskos to start the sixth inning and ran into trouble as well as the Yankees would take the lead before the inning was over. Corban Joseph worked a one out walk, went to second on a passed ball and scored on Mustelier's gap double to right center to cut the lead to 7-6. After a Jack Cust strikeout for the second out of the inning, Branyan hit a two run homer to right center off McCutchen for his eight HR of the season and second and third RBI's of the game giving the Yankees an 8-7 lead.

Meek got Cust to pop out to the short for the second out of the inning and after an intentional walk of Russell Branyan struck out Francisco Cervelli to end the inning. Tim Wood (SV, 10) took over in the ninth and picked up the save retiring the side in order.
