March 22, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. - Renowned Chicago-based national anthem performer Jim Cornelison will sing "The Star Spangled Banner" before the Quad City Mallards' game against the Evansville IceMen Friday night at 7:05 p.m. at the iWireless Center and the special edition VFW jerseys the Mallards will wear during that contest will go up for bid in a live auction immediately after the game.
Cornelison, who is well known for his performances of the national anthem before Chicago-area sporting events-Â including hockey games- is an accomplished opera singer who has performed with the likes of Placido Domingo and Zubin Mehta and has sung with opera companies around the world.
Fans planning on attending Friday evening's game are encouraged to arrive early in order to avoid lines and to be sure of experiencing what is certain to be a stirring rendition of the anthem. Cornelison will meet fans and sign autographs on the iWireless Center concourse during the game.
The Mallards Friday night will once again wear the VFW jerseys they debuted on Veterans Day and have donned for pregame warm-ups throughout the season. Friday evening's postgame jersey auction will benefit VFW Post 1303 in Rock Island.
Friday also brings the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK College Night. $1 hot dogs and beers are available at iWireless Center concession stands during all Friday home games. In addition, the Mallards have once again partnered with Metro to provide transit service between Augustana College and downtown Moline for all Friday home dates. As part of Metro's unlimited ride program, Augustana riders can use their Augustana ID as their fare. Mallards fans can also take advantage of the team's safe ride alternative, Uber, and get their first ride free (up to $20). First time Uber users can use the code qcmallards16.
The Mallards have instituted reduced "Playoff Push" pricing for prime sections and made additional $10 tickets available for all remaining home games. Fans can now purchase seats in four center ice sections- 103, 104, 114 and 115- for just $24- down from $28- or get four tickets in those areas for the family-friendly price of $80. The Mallards have also increased the number $10 upper level tickets available for the remainder of the regular season.
