Jim Campbell Assigned to Falcons

Springfield, Mass. – The Springfield Falcons, American Hockey League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning, today announced that right wing Jim Campbell has been re-assigned to the Falcons by the New York Islanders. Campbell, a 12th year pro, had been playing for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Campbell, 31, registered 20 points (8g, 12a) and 64 penalty minutes in 46 games with Bridgeport this season. His five power-play goals and four game-winning markers tie him for the most on the Sound Tigers in both categories.

Following the 1996-97 campaign, Campbell was named to the NHL's All-Rookie Team after scoring 23 goals among 43 points with the St. Louis Blues. The 6-2, 207-pound forward led the Worcester IceCats (AHL) with 65 points (31g, 34a) during the 1999-2000 season.

In 420 career AHL games, Campbell has posted 336 points (155g, 181a) and 421 PIM. The Worcester native has also skated in 284 NHL games, compiling 136 points (61g, 75a) and 266 PIM.

Campbell skated with the Falcons at practice today and is expected to be in the lineup when the team takes on the Lowell Lock Monsters at the Springfield Civic Center tonight.
