Bears acquire Josh Olsen from San Antonio

HERSHEY – The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that left wing Josh Olson has been acquired from the San Antonio Rampage in exchange for left wing Andre Savage. The roster move was announced Friday afternoon by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Olson comes to HERSHEY after scoring 22 goals in 73 games last year for the AHL's San Antonio Rampage. The former Florida Panthers draft pick scored nine goals and assisted on seven others in 53 games this season prior to today's transaction. The Grand Forks, North Dakota native also played in five games last season in the National Hockey League with Florida. He is expected to make his BEARS debut this weekend. The 6'5, 235 lbs winger played junior hockey for the Portland Winter Hawks in the WHL, scoring 40 goals in 72 games during the 2001-02 campaign.

Savage scored seven goals for HERSHEY this season, while assisting on 23 others.

The BEARS visit Philadelphia tonight to play the Phantoms at 7:05 p.m. before returning home to face the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at GIANT Center. HERSHEY will also host Albany at 5:00 p.m. Sunday with a tribute to the late Frank Mathers prior to the game.
