
Jim Abbott Named CCM ECHL Rookie Of the Month

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots, under the new ownership group of Hockey Enterprises of Pensacola L.L.C. with owner Tim Kerr, is proud to announce that forward Jim Abbott has been named the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for December.
Abbott led the ECHL with 12 goals and led all ECHL rookies with 18 points (12 goals and 6 assists) in 12 games in December. Abbott led the Ice Pilots with six power-play goals, two game winning goals and was a team-best +4.
Abbott ended the month of December tied for the ECHL lead and the rookie lead with nine power-play goals while leading rookies with 18 goals and 17 power-play points (9 goals and 8 assists) and ranking fourth among rookies with 31 points (18 goals and 13 assists) in 28 games.
Abbott had an eight game goal scoring streak, one game shy of the ECHL season high, during December in which he scored 11 goals and he scored a goal in nine games, including three two-goal games, and registered a point in 11 of the 12 games he played.
Abbott lead the Ice Pilots with 19 goals four game winning goals and nine power-play goals while ranking second on the team with 17 power play points and 32 points. Abbott played four years at the University of New Hampshire and was selected in the seventh round (216th overall) by Pittsburgh in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
The Ice Pilots will play home games this Friday vs. Mississippi at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday night vs. the Columbia Inferno at 7:05 p.m. Saturday night is Ladies Night and Avon Night. A Ladies Expo begins at 5:30 p.m. Ladies can register at the Expo to win three Avon makeovers and dinner with an Ice Pilots player. Prizes will be given away at the game including free massages.
