Checkers To Stage "Race Night" Saturday At Cricket Arena

(Charlotte, NC - Wednesday, January 7) - One of the most exciting nights of the season will take place this Saturday night at Cricket Arena when the Charlotte Checkers present "Race Night." while hosting the Augusta Lynx at 7:30 p.m. An array of fun and exciting activities will take place before, during and after the hockey game Saturday night, all centered around the great sport of NASCAR Racing.

Some of the activities include:

* Pre-game autograph session with NASCAR drivers Jeff Fultz, Shawna Robinson, Johnny Chapman, Shaun Mangum and Jay Godley.

* Show Cars on display including • Target Car • Coors Light Car • Richard Petty Driving Experience • Phil Bonifield NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Chevy Silverado • Craftsman Truck Series Toyota Tundra • Ralph Sheheen's Thunder Roadster from 600 Racing, Sponsored by SPEED Channel

* Richard Petty Driving Experience Display.

* "Live" remote and appearance by WSOC Radio personality Jeff Roper.

* Appearance by Krista Voda from Totally NASCAR and Bob Dillner and Ralph Sheheen from Speed Channel.

* Casey Mears of the # 41 car to drop the first puck.

* Special Post-Game Jersey Auction - The Checkers will be wearing special Race Jerseys during the game, with numbers that correspond with some of the most popular NASCAR drivers. A Checkers player will be wearing #2 for Rusty Wallace, #21 for Ricky Rudd, #7 for Jimmy Spencer as well as many other numbers of popular NASCAR drivers. Fans will have an opportunity to bid on the special Race Jerseys directly following Saturday's game. The Checkers player who wore the jersey AND the Winston Cup driver who's car number it represents will be signing the jersey for the fan with the winning bid. Proceeds from this special jersey auction will be going to Checkmate Charities and the Racing Wives Auxiliary.

* Special Prize Giveaways will include:
• Race Speedway Racing Packages Compliments of NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway
• Tickets for the Charlotte Tailgate 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race on May 21, 2004
• $200 worth of gas coupons, increments of $25

CHECKERS CONGRATULATE THE CAROLINA PANTHERS WATCH THEIR GAME ON THE BIG SCREEN AT CRICKET

The Carolina Panthers have made it to the second round of the NFL Playoffs and are traveling to St. Louis to take on the Rams this Saturday at 4:30 p.m. As a way of showing their support, the Checkers have decided to open the doors of Cricket Arena a little early for the Race Night game. Doors to Cricket Arena will open at 4:00 p.m. and the game will be shown on the Jumbotron. Once the game is over you can stick around for the Checkers versus the Augusta Lynx starting at 7:30 p.m. Updated information on Saturday's big night can be obtained on the Checkers website at www.gocheckers.com.

TICKET INFO: Tickets for this event and all Checkers home games may be purchased at the Cricket Arena Box Office, the Charlotte Coliseum Box Office, and all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets may also be purchased by phone by using a credit card and calling Ticketmaster at (704) 522-6500, and through the Internet at www.ticketmaster.com.

Individual game tickets for the 2003-04 season are priced at $7.00 for balcony seats, $10.00 for end mezzanine seats, $12.00 for side mezzanine seats, $15.00 for circle seats, and $20.00 for box seats.
