Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

PORTLAND, Maine - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins bounced back in a big way from their loss to the Portland Pirates the night before by beating the Pirates in decisive fashion on Saturday night.

The Penguins skated to a 5-0 victory at Cross Insurance Arena, featuring a 34-save shutout from Tristan Jarry and goal contributions from one player on each of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's four forward lines.

Scott Wilson scored his league-leading 20th goal of the season on a power play marker at 11:24 of the first period, putting the Penguins into a 1-0 lead. With a secondary assist on Wilson's goal, Will O'Neill captured his 100th career AHL assist.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton scored yet another power play goal 2:56 after Wilson's go-ahead goal, this time with Tom Sestito getting credit for tipping in a point shot from Clark Seymour.

Josh Archibald lifted the Penguins to a 3-0 lead with a breakaway goal that appeared to be stopped by Pirates goalie Mike McKenna, but the puck's momentum carried it across the goal line at 8:47 of the second period.

Sahir Gill slid a shot through McKenna's five-hole, giving Wilkes-Barre/Scranton a 4-0 lead at 5:48 of the third frame.

The Penguins boosted their score to 5-0 after a third power play goal of the contest came from the stick of Tom Kostopoulos at 10:52 of the final period.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton finished the game three-for-six on the power play, and shut down Portland on six man advantage attempts of their own.

Jarry's 34 saves gave him his third clean sheet of the season, and his shutout served as the eighth for all Penguins goalies this season.

The Penguins' bus trudges through the snow to Providence, R.I. for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's next game, a matinée match-up with the Providence Bruins on Sunday. Puck drop between the Pens and Bruins is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Dunkin' Donuts Center.
