Panthers Reassign Olsen Back to Portland

Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today the reassignment of defenseman Dylan Olsen to the Portland Pirates. He had been recalled by the Panthers yesterday on an emergency basis.

Olsen, a 6-foot-3, 210 pound defenseman from Calgary, Alberta, played nine games on his most recent reassignment to Portland. The 25 year-old scored one goal and added five assists for six points since he was reassigned by the Panthers on December 21.

Overall with Portland this season, Olsen has two goals and six assists for eight points and six penalty minutes in 18 games.

With Florida this season, Olsen has played in eight games, notching one assist and two PIM.

Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the First Round (28th Overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Olsen has played a total of 124 NHL games with Chicago and Florida. Prior to turning pro, he played a season-and-a-half of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey with the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

Olsen will be eligible to play for the Pirates tonight when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Cross Insurance Arena.
