Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), visit the San Jose Barracuda tonight at 7:30 PT at SAP Center in San Jose, California. Tonight is the sixth of 12 meetings between the two teams this season.

24 Hours Later:

The Reign and Barracuda met last night at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California with the Reign prevailing 3-2 in overtime. After trailing 2-0 heading into the third period, defenseman Vincent LoVerde and forward Sean Backman netted goals to force the extra session and forward Nic Dowd completed the comeback 28 seconds into overtime. Overtime Success:

With the win last night, the Reign improved their overtime record to 6-2 including extra-session victories in back-to-back meetings with the Barracuda (2-1 on Dec. 13 and 3-2 on Jan. 22).

Sommer Eyes AHL Record:

San Jose Head Coach Roy Sommer (635 wins) is one win away from tying the AHL all-time coaching wins record set by Fred "Bun" Cook. Cook grabbed 636 wins over 19 seasons (1,171 games) from 1937-56.

Reign Close Homestand on High Note:

The Reign wrapped up a five-game homestand last night with the victory over the Barracuda and finished the stretch with a 4-1-0-0 record. Only one home game remains in January (Jan. 30 vs. Manitoba) after the Reign entered the month facing a season-high 10 home contests (6-3-0 January home record).

Dowd Stretches Point Streak:

With the game-winning goal last night, forward Nic Dowd stretches his personal point streak to five games with five goals and one assist.
