
Jannis' Gem Spoiled by Somerset in Extras

(Bridgewater, N.J., May 28, 2015) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 1-0 in 12 innings on Thursday night in the second game of a four-game series at TD Bank Ballpark.
Ducks starter Mickey Jannis and Patriots starter Sean Bierman traded scoreless innings through the first eight frames of the ballgame. Jannis finished by allowing three hits while walking none and striking out eight. Bierman surrendered six hits while walking one and striking out four.
Sergio Perez and Bruce Kern combined to toss three scoreless innings of relief through the 11th for the Ducks. Andrew Carnigan, Buddy Boshers, and Daniel Sattler relieved Bierman through the 12th for Somerset. Amalio Diaz began the bottom of the inning for Long Island by walking Jonny Tucker. Tucker would steal second and later score the game-winning run on a single to right field from Aharon Eggleston.
Bryan Sabatella and Jon Griffin led the way offensively for Long Island with two hits apiece.
The Ducks continue the four-game set with Somerset on Friday night. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. from TD Bank Ballpark. Right-hander Billy Buckner will go for Long Island against Somerset righty David Harden. Fans can follow all of the action live on the Ducks' flagship radio station, 103.9-FM LI News Radio. Streaming audio will also be available online.
The Ducks will return home on Sunday, May 31 to begin a three-game series against the York Revolution. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 12:35 (12:20 for full season ticket holders). The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a Ray Navarrete #16 Jersey Pin as the sixth and final piece of the 2015 Collector's Series. It will also be a Sunday Family Funday at the ballpark! Prior to the game, fans will be invited onto the field for an autograph session with the Ducks from 12:50 to 1:05. Following the game, kids and kids at heart can take part in Kids Run the Bases, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
