Kamieniecki, Cooper Will Play in Legends Game

(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 28, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced that former Yankee Scott Kamieniecki and former Red Sox player Scott Cooper will play during the Heroes for Heroes Legends Game at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Thursday, July 9th. Kamieniecki joins Matt Nokes, Jesse Barfield, Charlie Hayes and Jim Leyritz on the Yankees roster, and Cooper will join Mike Timlin, "Oil Can" Boyd, Ellis Burks and Bill "Spaceman" Lee for the Red Sox. More players will be announced in the coming weeks.
Scott Kamienicki began his Major League career with the New York Yankees, making his debut in 1991 after being selected in the 14th round of the 1986 MLB draft. He spent six seasons with the Yankees before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 1997, where he played another three years. In his final stint in the Majors in 2002, he split time with the Cleveland Indians and the Atlanta Braves. During his 10-year big league career, Kamieniecki collected 53 wins in 250 games (138 starts) with a 4.52 ERA and 542 strikeouts.
Scott Cooper began his Major League career with the Boston Red Sox after being selected in the third round of the 1986 MLB draft. He spent five seasons with the Red Sox before being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals prior to the 1995 campaign. In 1997, he again played in the Majors with the Kansas City Royals. During his seven seasons in the big leagues, Cooper collected a .265 batting average with 33 home runs and 211 RBI. He was a member of the American League All-Star roster in both 1993 and 1994.
Proceeds from the Heroes for Heroes Legends Game will benefit ABRI/Homes for the Brave, a nonprofit based right here in Bridgeport that is dedicated to improving the lives of homeless individuals, especially Veterans.
Game time on Thursday, July 9th will be 7:00 p.m. General Admission tickets will be sold for $15.00 in advance or $20.00 at the gate on the day of the game. Tickets are available by calling (203) 210-BLUE, or going to www.bridgeportbluefish.com.
