BAKERSFIELD, February 11, 2011- The Bakersfield Jam (19-12) defeated the Texas Legends (16-16) by a score of 138-134 at the Jam Events Center tonight. Bakersfield scored a season-high 138 points and drained a season-high 17 three's. Stephen Dennis scored a season-high 29 points (21 in the first half), had 5 assists and 3 steals to lead the Jam.

Bakersfield came out firing tonight, hitting 9 three-pointers and leading by as many as 21 points in the opening period. Texas kept themselves in the game by getting to the line and converting on 17-of-18 free throws to go into halftime trailing only 74-64.

The Legends went on an 18-4 run in the third period to cut the Jam lead down to 98-97 going into the final quarter. With Texas on top 103-102, Bakersfield went on a run of their own (15-2) in the fourth that put them on top by 12. Dominique Johnson made a lay-up with 39.1 seconds remaining in the contest to bring the game within one, but Bakersfield knocked down 9-of-10 clutch free throws in the final seconds to hold on for the victory.

Clippers assignee, Willie Warren, finished the game with 23 points and 8 assists off the bench. Derrick Byars contributed 17 points. Jeremy Wise added 16 points and dished out 7 assists. Brandon Wallace had 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting, including 3-for-3 behind the three-point line.

Texas bench combined for 78 points tonight, led by Justin Dentmon's team-high 25 points and Dominique Johnson's 24. Guard Antonio Daniels had an all-around game, finishing with 21 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds. Booker Woodfox recorded 18 points on the night.

The Jam continue their three-game series with the Legends tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
