FRISCO, TX - The Bakersfield Jam (15-21) fell to the Texas Legends (17-16) 111-106 Saturday night at the Dr. Pepper Arena. Six Jam players scored in double figures, led by Xavier Silas' 29 (7/10 3FGs).
Cory Jefferson scored 14 points (6/8 FGs) in the opening period, but the Jam trailed 37-20 at the end of the first quarter. Bakersfield closed the gap in the second frame, outscoring Texas 39-26 in the quarter behind Xavier Silas' 14 points (3/3 3FGs). The Jam went into halftime trailing 63-59.
After trailing for most of the third quarter, Askia Booker's step back jump shot at the end of the quarter gave the Jam a 91-90 lead heading into the final frame. Both teams shot poorly in the fourth (BAK-21.7%, TEX 27.3%), but the Legends managed to edge the Jam 21-15 in the quarter to take the victory.
Jefferson had 21 points and five rebounds, while Booker came off the bench and contributed 14 points. Xavier Munford (13), Kyle Casey (11) and Javier Carter (10) also posted double-digit scoring performances. Silas had a team-high eight rebounds.
Texas was paced by Brandon Ashley's 30 points and eight rebounds. Tu Holloway off the bench had 23 points and seven assists, while Dallas Mavericks assignee Justin Anderson tallied 18 points and five assists. Michael Eric registered a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Bakersfield will return to action on Friday, February 26 when they host the Idaho Stampede at 7:00 p.m. PT.
