Raptors 905 News Release
Canton Charge guard Quinn Cook recorded a triple-double with 20 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds to lead the Charge to a 106-88 win over Raptors 905 Saturday night at Canton Memorial Civic Center in Canton, Ohio.
The two teams battled back-and-forth through the first eight minutes of the opening quarter before Canton went on an 8-0 run to create some separation late in the period to carry a 22-17 advantage into the second quarter. The Charge's late first-quarter surge carried over to the second as the Canton club extended its lead to as many as 16 points at the midway point of the frame and took a 56-44 score into halftime, led by 13 points off the bench from Nick Minnerath and 11 points and nine assists from Cook. Sim Bhullar's nine points and nine rebounds led Raptors 905 at the break.
Raptors 905 fell behind by as many as 19 points early in the second half before Scott Suggs' 12 third-quarter points got the Mississauga club back to within single digits in the dying seconds of the period. However, Michael Stockton hit a buzzer-beating three ball to restore the Charge's double-digit lead, putting his club up 83-72 heading into the fourth. Raptors 905 wouldn't get any closer than that in the final period as Canton pushed its advantage back up to as many as 20 and held on for an eighth-straight victory.
Scoring in double digits for Canton were Cook (game-high 20), Stockton (19), Minnerath (16), Juvonte Reddic (13) and John Holland (12). Cook's 13 assists were a game high. Leading Raptors 905 offensively were Suggs (18), Greg Smith (16), Bhullar (15) and Axel Toupane (15). Bhullar and Smith each completed double-doubles with 15 (game-high) and 11 rebounds, respectively.
The Charge led Raptors 905 in field goal percentage (43.3-39.5), three point percentage (23.1-15.8) and fast-break points (25-14), while Raptors 905 held the advantage in free throw percentage (65.6-59.1), points in the paint (58-54) and second-chance points (15-14).
Raptors 905 is back in action Sunday, February 21 when it plays host to the Charge at Hershey Centre in Mississauga at 6 p.m.
