The Canton Charge (20-13), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, defeated the Raptors 905 (13-21), 106-88, in front of a sellout crowd at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Saturday night. The Charge set a new franchise record with their eighth consecutive victory and have now won 15 of their last 17 games dating back to January 1st.
Quinn Cook posted his first career triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and a season-high 13 assists in 37 minutes. Michael Stockton netted a season-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting with five boards, five assists, and two steals in 36 minutes. Nick Minnerath came off the bench to supply 16 points and nine rebounds in 28 minutes for Canton.
After five lead changes and four ties, the Charge broke a 14-14 early deadlock with an 8-0 run to take the lead in the game for good. Canton led by as many as 20 points on their way to taking a 2-0 season series lead between the two teams with a pair of games still to come north of the border. The Charge set another franchise record tonight by attempting 39 three-point shots, surpassing a mark set in the inaugural season.
Scott Suggs paced the Raptors 905 with 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting in 36 minutes. Greg Smith notched a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds in 35 minutes. Sim Bhullar also posted a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds in 33 minutes. Axel Toupane added 15 points, seven boards, and five assists in 41 minutes for the 905.
Canton's Juvonte Reddic scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 21 minutes of relief, while Sir'Dominic Pointer scored nine points and blocked three shots in a reserve role as the Charge bench outscored the visitors 46-20. Canton forced 15 turnovers that resulted in 19 points while surrendering the ball just eight times resulting in eight points.
