SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The defending NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors (12-22) fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (18-15) 116-100 on Friday at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

Terrence Drisdom paced Santa Cruz with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Aaron Craft posted 16 points and 5 rebounds while Verdell Jones III added 15 points and 7 assists.

Jordan Hamilton came off the bench to lead the way for Rio Grande Valley with a game- high of 29 points and 8 rebounds on 12-of-15 shooting. Will Cummings recorded 22 points and 5 assists, while Jaron Johnson added 15 points and 6 rebounds.

The first quarter proved to be a tightly-contested battle that saw five lead changes and three ties. Rio Grande Valley ended the frame with a narrow 27-25 lead over Santa Cruz.

Both teams remained close throughout the second quarter until the Vipers went on a 17-5 run in the final five minutes of the frame to pull away from the Warriors and enter the locker room with a 15-point advantage.

Rio Grande Valley continued to dominate coming out of the break, leading by as many as 23 points in the third quarter. The Warriors would never regain the advantage in the second half, falling 116-100.

The Santa Cruz Warriors will travel to State Farm Arena to take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. PST. Fans can watch the game on the NBA D-League's YouTube channel, via www.santacruzbasketball.com.
