These two rivals last met in a home-and-home weekend on November 20-21 with the Jackals winning both games by identical 5-4 finals. The next night in Elmira Cason Hohmann paved the way with two goals while Chris Langkow, Tyler Currier and Mark Bennett each found the back of the net as well. Recapping Last Week:

12/9 vs. Norfolk Admirals: W 4-3

Allan McPherson and Mike Seidel each had a goal and an assist while Niklas Lundstrom made 51 saves en route to a 4-3 victory over the Norfolk Admirals. The Jackals remain red-hot and have now won nine of their last 11 games.

Elmira edged ahead early with a quick strike from Kevin Clare at 5:59 of the opening frame. Just as a power-play was expiring, Chris Langkow worked the puck over to Allan McPherson who fed Kevin Clare fresh off the bench for a whistling wrist shot top shelf over the shoulder of Philippe Cadorette. Niklas Lundstrom stood tall in the first 20 minutes stopping all 18 shots he faced.

The Jackals doubled their lead at 13:08 of the second period with a stunning wrist shot from Tyler Currier. He fired the shot from just inside the blueline and saw it glance off the shoulder of Cadorette and trickled towards the goal, before being knocked in by the netminder. Just over two minutes later the Admirals got on the board with Tommy Mele's redirect in front for his seventh of the season. However, the Jackals were able to regain their two-goal lead before the end of the period, thanks to a blunder by Cadorette. While shorthanded, Cadorette held the puck behind the net lackadaisically allowing Mike Seidel to swing through and knock it away then find Allan McPherson in front for his fifth of the year.

The Admirals responded quickly in the third period and cut the Jackals lead back down to one at1:19 with Alexandre Ranger's seventh of the season assisted by Ben Betker and Michael Pelech. But the resilient Jackals rapidly regained their two-goal advantage as Mike Seidel banked the puck off Cadorette's back and in from below the goal line for his eighth goal of the season. Chris Langkow and Josh Chapman recorded the assists on the eventual game-winner. Nick MacNeil narrowed the Jackals' lead back to one with a late power-play goal with the extra attacker on the ice, but it was too little too late for the Admirals.

Niklas Lundstrom stopped 51 of 54 shots faced to earn his fifth win of the season. Philippe Cadorette allowed four goals on 33 shots faced and was handed the loss.

12/11 vs. Manchester Monarchs: W 2-1 SO

C.J. Motte stifled Manchester's offense with 44 saves and three more in the shootout to propel the Jackals past the Monarchs 2-1 at First Arena in the Star Wars Weekend opener.

There were just two goals scored during regulation and overtime with both coming in the first period on the power-play. First, the Monarchs fired the first salvo with a power-play marker from Darik Angeli at 13:34. Yann Sauve and David Kolomatis earned the assists on Angeli's second goal of the season. Just 90 seconds later the Jackals countered on a power-play of their own knotting the game at 1-1. Mike Seidel fed the puck to Nathan Oystrick who found Allan McPherson sliding through the slot for his sixth of the season at 15:04 of the frame.

C.J. Motte continued his sensational play in the second period thwarting all 18 shots he faced throughout the 20 minute frame. Doug Carr turned aside all 10 he had to stop in the second period to send the game to the third period still tied at 1-1.

Each team had its chances to take the lead in the third period, but the netminders stood tall sending the contest into overtime tied 1-1. The five minute frame of three-on-three hockey did not produce a winner, so the game headed to a shootout. Gasper Kopitar started round one but was stopped by Motte's blocker. Chris Langkow went first for the Jackals but caught the butt-end of Carr's stick. Zac Larraza and Allan McPherson were stopped on their attempts in round two opening the door for a game-deciding round three. Austin Block was shutdown by Motte setting up Kevin Clare for a chance to win the game. Clare started out left on the forehand, moved to the backhand then quickly deked back to the forehand catching Carr out of the net for the game-winning shootout goal.

C.J. Motte turned aside 44 of 45 shots faced and all three in the shootout to earn his seventh win of the season. Doug Carr turned aside 36 of 37 shots faced but allowed one on three attempts in the shootout giving him the loss.

12/12 vs. Norfolk Admirals: W 4-0

Niklas Lundstrom stopped all 46 shots he faced as the Jackals blanked the Norfolk Admirals 4-0 at First Arena. Mike Seidel, Mark Bennett, Justin Kea and Kevin Clare each scored as the Jackals extended their winning streak to five games.

The Jackals jumped ahead in the first period as Mike Seidel buried a beautiful feed in the slot from Chris Langkow as he wrapped around the back of the net and found Seidel for his ninth goal of the season. Nick Petrecki also added an assist on the opening salvo at 10:59. Seidel's goal turned out to be all that Niklas Lundstrom would need to secure the win, but they padded their lead in the second period.

Garrett Ladd raced in on the forecheck, forced a turnover and found Allan McPherson in the slot for a shot which was initially stopped by Adam Courchaine but the rebound found Mark Bennett who deposited it for his fourth goal of the season.

Justin Kea joined the party in the third period with his first goal of the season at 11:31 of the frame. Garrett Klotz played it to Tyler Currier who fed Justin Kea for a missile off the post and past Courchaine. Garrett Klotz's assist was his first point of the season and as a Jackal. Kevin Clare added an empty-net goal at 15:53 assisted by Jacob MacDonald for his third goal of the season. The Admirals fired 28 shots on net in the third period but Niklas Lundstrom was phenomenal turning aside every shot en route to his first professional shutout.

Niklas Lundstrom stopped all 46 shots he faced earning his sixth win of the year. Adam Courchaine allowed three goals on 22 shots faced and was saddled with the loss.
