
Hartford Nabs Curran and Escobedo

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced defenseman Kodie Curran has been recalled by Hartford, while fellow blue-liner Sean Escobedo has also been loaned to the Wolf Pack.
Curran, 25, signed an American Hockey League contract with Hartford on September 8, 2015 and attended training camp with the Wolf Pack prior to being reassigned to Greenville on October 5. The rookie defenseman went on to make 25 appearances with the Swamp Rabbits and ranked second on the club with 13 points (3g, 10a). Curran was also tied for second with 10 assists and added 14 penalty minutes and a +3 rating.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Curran made his professional debut with Hartford at the end of last season and collected one assist and a +1 rating in two contests. Prior to turning pro, he played five seasons in his hometown at the University of Calgary from 2010-15. He led all Canada West University Athletic Association (CWUAA) defensemen in points (24), goals (8) and assists (16) last season and earned First-Team All-CIS West honors for a second consecutive season. Curran also tied for fifth among all CIS defenseman in points.
Overall, the 6'2, 200-pound blue-liner notched 96 points (17g, 72a) in 89 career contests.
Escobedo, 25, earned 11 points (1g, 10a) in 26 games with the Swamp Rabbits this season and is one of just two players to appear in every one of the team's games. Last season, the third-year pro recorded 19 points (3g, 16a) in 61 games and led all Greenville defenseman with a +8 rating. He also earned two call-ups to the AHL with Hartford and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, where he finished the 2014-15 campaign. Escobedo amassed three points (1g, 2a) in four AHL contests.
A native of Bayside, New York, Escobedo spent the majority of his rookie campaign in 2013-14 with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder, producing 15 points (6g, 9a), 57 penalty minutes and a +2 rating in 50 games. He also made his AHL debut with the Bridgeport on November 16th, 2013 and faced Hartford in a 4-1 setback.
Prior to turning pro, the 6'1, 205-pound defenseman played four seasons at Boston University from 2009-2013. He registered 33 points (6g, 27a) and 208 penalty minutes in 145 games.
Star Wars Night: The Swamp Rabbits return to SANDLAPPER Securities Rink at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Saturday to face the Orlando Solar Bears at 7 p.m. Saturday is Star Wars Night, featuring a Family Force Pack ticket special: four (4) red-level tickets and two (2) bottleneck socks for just $60! Trolley On Over: Greenville's downtown trolley route has been extended to include a stop at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The expanded route will operate for all Swamp Rabbits' games taking place Thursdays through Sundays during normal trolley service hours.
