Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
LAST WEEK'S RECAP
Overall Picture: For the second straight weekend, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (11-12-3), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, posted a .500 record over the course of three games in three days. The club took three of six possible points on the weekend and now ranks fourth in the South Division standings (26 points) - tied with Orlando.
The Swamp Rabbits opened the three-game series on Thursday when Michael St. Croix scored twice to help Greenville capture a 6-2 victory over the Solar Bears on SANDLAPPER Securities Rink. It marked the fifth time this season the Swamp Rabbits have scored six goals in a contest. Jack Combs (1g, 1a) and Josh Nicholls (1g, 1a) each contributed a two-point performance as well, while Jeff Malcolm made 30 saves between the pipes.
In a rematch with the Solar Bears just 24 hours later, the Swamp Rabbits fought back from a pair of one-goal deficits to earn a point on Friday, but suffered a 3-2 setback in overtime when Jack Rodewald scored the game-winning goal at 2:33 of the extra frame. Combs and Jordan Knackstedt each registered a regulation goal for Greenville, while P.J. Musico halted 34 shots.
Greenville hit the road on Saturday and concluded the weekend with a 5-1 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays at the North Charleston Coliseum. Stingrays' forward Joe Devin scored a hat trick for the home team and Mark Dekanich stopped 30 of 31 shots, while Knackstedt netted his second goal in as many nights for the Swamp Rabbits.
