Jackals Reveal 2012-2013 Schedule

May 30, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals announced their schedule on Wednesday for the 2012-2013 season, the club's sixth in the ECHL.

The Jackals will open the season at home on Friday, Oct. 12, welcoming their division rivals, the Reading Royals, to First Arena. Elmira defeated Reading in five games in the 2011-2012 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

Elmira's Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday home games will all begin at 7:05 p.m. in 2012-2013. Sunday contests at First Arena will commence at 4:05 p.m.

"We are looking forward to another exciting season of Jackals hockey," Jackals general manager Matt Hufnagel said. "Our schedule is very fan friendly, with 32 of our 36 home games being played on weekend dates."

The Jackals are coming off of their first Eastern Conference regular season championship since entering the ECHL in 2007-2008, posting a record of 45-22-2-3 in 2011-2012. Elmira advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, falling to the eventual Kelly Cup champions, the Florida Everblades, in five games.

The ECHL will feature 23 teams in the 2012-2013 season, up three from this past campaign. New additions to Elmira's schedule are the Fort Wayne Komets and Evansville Icemen, who joined the ECHL from the CHL this offseason, and the expansion Orlando Solar Bears. The San Francisco Bulls are also joining the ECHL in 2012-2013 in the Western Conference. The Chicago Express ceased operations following the 2011-2012 campaign.

The Jackals will host a town hall meeting inside First Arena on Thursday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. to preview the 2012-2013 season. The general public is invited to attend the event free of charge. The Jackals will also feature a merchandise sale at the event.
