
Jackals Prevail in Special Teams Battle

North Charleston, SC -The South Carolina Stingrays (33-24-2-2) wrapped up their regular-season series with the Elmira Jackals (27-24-6-1) Tuesday night, falling 3-2 at the North Charleston Coliseum.
Stingrays forward Tommy Goebel broke open the scoring at 6:49 of the first period deflecting a shot from defenseman Derek Keller between the legs of Jackals goaltender Marco Cousineau. Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien earned the second assist. The Jackals tied the contest late in the period on the power play with an unassisted tally from forward Michael Dubuc at 18:01.
Elmira took a 2-1 lead on the man advantage early in the second frame when defenseman Drew Paris blasted pass from defenseman R.J. Anderson past Stingrays netminder Jared DeMichiel from the left-wing point. Forward Yannick Tifu added the second assist. O'Brien knotted it back up on the power play at 19:10 from forwards Trent Campbell and Matt Scherer.
Forward Andrew Willock buried the game-winning marker for the Jackals at 11:21 of the final stanza from Paris and defenseman Billy Siers.
DeMichiel suffered the loss stopping 22 of 25 Jackals shots. Cousineau improved to 18-12-4-0 kicking away 33 of 35 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays finished the night 1-for-7 on the power play while the Jackals went 2-for-7. The Stingrays finish the season series with an 0-2-0-0 record and are now 5-3-0-0 against the Jackals all time.
