Little Falls, NJ - The Sussex Skyhawks made it two straight wins versus their intra-state rivals, with a 4-3 victory at Skylands Park against the New Jersey Jackals.

Sussex picked up their first run of the ballgame in the bottom of the second. Following a triple by Chris Crescenzi, Scott Grimes brought him home with an RBI single. But the Jackals wouldn't stay down for long. In the top of the third Francisco Leandro singled home Joe Mihalics to tie the score.

The Jackals took their first lead of the series in the sixth. Newcomer Dustin Yount's RBI single through the right side of the infield, made the score 2-1 in favor of New Jersey, but they gave the lead back immediately.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Skyhawks took a 4-2 lead after scoring three runs. Grimes collected his second RBI single of the evening, followed by a two-RBI single by Jared Lemieux later on the frame. That would be all the scoring Sussex needed to take down their intra-state rivals.

The Jackals picked up a run in the eighth when Bart Braun Jr. walked Sandy Madera with the bases loaded but the Jackals would get no closer.

Jamie Merchant earned the win for the Skyhawks in relief. He lasted four innings while yielding just one run on three hits. He walked four and struck out five.

Ryan Pacyna took the loss for his second consecutive start. In 5.2 innings pitched, he gave up four earned runs on eight hits.

The Jackals left the bases loaded three times in the ballgame, leading to 13 runners left on base in total.
