Elmira Jackals News Release

NORFOLK, VA - November 10, 2015 - The Elmira Jackals received goals from four different players and fired 44 shots on goal in their 4-3 victory over the Norfolk Admirals at the Norfolk Scope Arena tonight.

The Admirals, who were riding a four-game home winning streak into the contest, struck first at 3:12 of the opening period as Josh Currie batted a puck past Sam Marotta. The Jackals answered minutes later as a power-play expired, they maintained possession in the Norfolk end and Jacob MacDonald fired a wrist shot through Ty Rimmer's five-hole to even the game at 1-1. Cason Hohmann earned an assist on MacDonald's second goal of the season. Later in the first period, Sam Marotta appeared to suffer an injury and received medical attention, but stayed in the game momentarily before exiting during a timeout. C.J. Motte entered the game with 5:39 left in the period and stopped all five shots he faced.

The Jackals didn't waste any time jumping ahead in the second period. They opened the period on a power-play and just one minute in Mike Seidel tipped in a point-shot from Nathan Oystrick for his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Chris Langkow also earned an assist on Seidel's power-play goal. That was the lone marker of the second period.

The third period opened with fast and furious action as the Admirals tied the game just 1:13 into the frame with Tom Mele's first goal of the season. Less than two minutes later Mike Seidel found Kevin Clare with a stretch pass at the Norfolk blueline and Clare buried a backhand on the breakaway past Rimmer to regain the lead. Just 15 seconds later Zach Tolkinen fired a shot from the point that was deflected by Nick Zappia to Cason Hohmann who deposited it for his fourth goal of the season. Norfolk answered at 9:15 with Jonathan Lessard's first goal of the year, cutting the Jackals lead back down to one. The remainder of the third period was filled with helter skelter action, but C.J. Motte and the pesky pack kept the Admirals at bay and held on for the 4-3 victory.

Sam Marotta stopped 13 of 14 shots faced in 14:21 of action. C.J. Motte stopped 16 of 18 shots faced in relief duty and earned the win. Ty Rimmer allowed four goals on 44 shots faced and was handed the loss.
