Tulsa Oilers' Budweiser Military Night Benefiting Folds of Honor Set for Friday
November 10, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers are proud to continue a yearly tradition of honoring America's troops and veterans through a very special night of patriotism at the BOK Center. On Friday, November 13th, the Oilers face off against the Allen Americans at 7:05 p.m. on Budweiser Military Night benefiting Folds of Honor.
The Oilers' players will wear special camouflage jerseys (photo attached) with red, white, and blue accents which will be auctioned off immediately following the game to raise money for Folds of Honor, a non-profit foundation that provides scholarship opportunities to children of veterans killed or wounded in the line of duty.
Before the game, Marine Corp Sergeant William Lenard and his family will drop the puck for a ceremonial face off. Lenard, who joined the Marines shortly after 9/11 and served until 2006, completed three tours of duty in Iraq and was involved in several firefights that have been documented in a book titled, '*A New Dawn*.' A native of Claremore, Oklahoma, Sergeant Lenard received three Purple Hearts during his service and was awarded the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat "V" for Valor.
During the first intermission, Jeremy "Huck" Durtschi, the Director of Corporate Partnerships for Folds of Honor and a retired Air Force pilot, will address the crowd and give a special Folds of Honor presentation. Buckets will be passed throughout the BOK Center to allow fans the opportunity to donate to Folds of Honor and its continuing mission of providing educational support to the families of America's heroes.
In addition the ceremonial puck drop and the intermission presentation, the Oilers will pay tribute to veterans, soldiers, and their families with videos, public address announcements, and patriotic promotions throughout the evening.
Tickets for Budweiser Military Night start at $15 and military members and veterans can receive $10 off in the Group Zone, Plaza, or Premium sections by presenting a valid Military ID at the BOK Center box office on the night of the game.
Budweiser, a proud partner of Tulsa Oilers hockey for many years, has a long history of raising funds and lending resources to veterans and military families. Since 1987, by utilizing partnerships with a variety of sports platforms, teams, and venues, Budweiser has donated nearly 11 million dollars to military charities in the United States.
