Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals announced on Tuesday that they have acquired defenseman Jimmy Martin along with future considerations from the Florida Everblades in exchange for defenseman Mike Ratchuk.

Martin, a rookie, has split 2011-2012 with the Everblades and the Bakersfield Condors, collecting 13 points (3g-10a) between the two clubs. The St. Louis, Mo. native was traded from the Condors to the Everblades on Dec. 1 and in 18 games with Florida posted a +7 rating, checking in third best on the club in that category. He began his professional career at the end of the 2010-2011 season, skating in three games with the Reading Royals.

Prior to beginning his professional career, Martin played four seasons at Yale University (NCAA, D-I), serving as the Bulldogs captain in his senior season of 2010-2011 as Yale won the ECAC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Martin did not miss a game during his career at Yale, accumulating 58 points (11g-47a) in 138 contests.

The Jackals finish out their four-game road trip this week in Gwinnett and South Carolina before returning home to host Wheeling on Feb. 1 and Chicago on Feb. 4 at First Arena. To reserve your seats call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
