
Elmira's Pietrus Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jordan Pietrus of the Elmira Jackals is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 16-22.
The 26-year-old forward scored three goals, added three assists and was a +4 in two games last week as the Jackals improved their Eastern Conference leading record to 26-12-1 for 53 points.
Pietrus had two points (1g-1a) in a 4-3 win against Trenton on Friday and followed that up with four points (2g-2a) and a +3 rating in a 7-4 victory over Wheeling on Saturday.
A native of Vermilion, Alberta, Pietrus has 18 points (6g-12a) in 26 games with Elmira this season after starting the season in Trenton where he had one goal in six games. Last season, as a rookie, he appeared in 63 games with South Carolina, tallying 14 points (5g-9a).
Prior to turning pro, Pietrus played four seasons of college hockey at Brown University, scoring 41 points (18g-23a) in 100 games.
On behalf of Jordan Pietrus, a case of pucks will be donated to an Elmira youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
