
Everblades Acquire Defenseman Ratchuk from Elmira

ESTERO, FL -- The Florida Everblades announced Tuesday that the team has acquired defenseman Mike Ratchuk from the Elmira Jackals in exchange for defenseman Jimmy Martin and future considerations.
Ratchuk joins the Everblades after posting 11 points (3g, 8a) in 21 games played with the Jackals this season, while also registering an assist in ten appearances with the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League. In addition, Ratchuk also went scoreless in two games with the Syracuse Crunch (AHL) this season as well.
The 5-11, 186-pound forward brings 147 games of experience from the AHL in stints with the Philadelphia Phantoms, Adirondack Phantoms, and Springfield Falcons from 2007-2011. The South Buffalo, NY was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round (#42 overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Ratchuk played two seasons at Michigan State University totaling 37 points (10g, 27a) from 2006-2008.
Martin registered 13 points in 37 games played split between the Everblades and the Bakersfield Condors this season. Martin was acquired by the Blades from Bakersfield in a trade on December 1.
The Everblades open up a six-game homestand on Wednesday against the Greenville Road Warriors beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Germain Arena. Fans can enjoy $2 drafts, $2 wines, and $2 hot dogs all night long. Guys can receive a $5 ticket and Ladies can get in free when they present their college I.D. to the Capital Bank Box Office at Germain Arena. Must have a college I.D. in order to receive either offer. The two teams will meet again on Thursday and Saturday of this week at Germain arena.
