May 3, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - Salt Lake Bees outfielder Jabari Blash was named Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for April. Blash was given the honor by a vote of the league's field managers and will be presented an award from Minor League Baseball.

Blash posted the best slugging percentage (.884) and OPS (1.347) in the Major or Minor Leagues during the opening month of the season. His nine home runs tied with teammate Chris Carter for the best mark in MiLB. In 20 games, Blash hit .362 with 22 RBIs, scored 20 runs and recorded 17 extra-base hits, all marks that placed inside the Top 10 in the PCL.

The Virgin Islands native reached base safely in 19-of-20 contests, helping Salt Lake score a PCL-best 174 runs in the month. Blash hit four home runs in a three-day span from April 19-21 in games against Sacramento and Albuquerque and helped the Bees to a baseball best 47 home runs in the month, leading all of baseball and setting a franchise-record for a calendar month. The award is Blash's second PCL Player of the Month award, having previously been honored with the Tacoma Rainiers in August 2015. The last Bees player to win PCL Player of the Month was outfielder Brennan Boesch in June of 2014.

Blash and the Bees are in the middle of a season-long eight game homestand that continues Friday night as Salt Lake starts a four-game series with the Las Vegas 51s. Friday and Saturday night will be the first Abejas games as the Bees participate in MiLB's Copa de la Diversion program. More info is available at www.slbees.com.
