SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake Bees split a doubleheader to finish off a series against the Fresno Grizzlies, dropping the first game, 7-5 and winning the second, 4-3.

In the first game, the Bees briefly held a 4-3 lead before the Grizzlies tied it up in the fifth and then plated three in the sixth on a two-out triple by Antonio Nunez to take a 7-4 lead. Salt Lake threatened in the seventh with the tying run at the plate but Chris Carter flew out to the warning track to close the door on the scoring opportunity.

The second game went the home team's way as the Bees would deny any comeback attempt by Fresno. Carter tied teammate Jabari Blash for the league lead by belting his 10th home run of the season in the third to extend the lead to 3-0. They added another run in the fourth on a triple by David Fletcher before Fresno cut the lead to 4-2. The score would remain that way thanks to Ian Krol, who picked up his fourth save of the season.

Salt Lake will next take the field as Las Abejas de Salt Lake to take part in MiLB's Copa de Diviersion initiative to celebrate the game's Hispanic heritage. They'll take on the Las Vegas 51s Friday at 6:35 at Smith's Ballpark.
