Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-It may not have been the way he envisioned it, but Forward Kris Beech will take a hat trick any way he can get one, especially when it leads to a Milwaukee win. The Salmon Arm, BC native netted the team's first three-goal performance of the season as the Ads topped the Peoria Rivermen 4-2 at the Bradley Center on Wednesday night.
Facing off for the first time since 1996, the Admirals and Rivermen would trade power play goals in the first period with Peoria striking first when Jay McClement deflected a shot from Aaron MacKenzie at the 14:24 mark. Beech would pick up his first goal to tie the score on assists from Libor Pivko and Shea Weber with just under two minutes to go in the period.
The second period played out much like the first, with the Rivermen taking a 2-1 lead when Peter Sejna riffled a shot from the goal line off of Milwaukee goalie Brian Finley's side at 18:05 of the second. Just like the first stanza, the Admirals would tie the score, this time on Greg Classen's power-play tally with just 19 seconds left to play in the stanza.
Beech's second goal of the night, which turned out to be the game-winner, came on a Peoria power play at 12:18 of the third. Libor Pivko picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and skated in on Rivermen goalie Jason Bacashihua before passing to Beech who fired a shot that deflected off of Bacashihua and into the air before falling behind the Peoria backstop and into the net.
Beech would net the coveted hat trick on an empty net goal with just one second left in the game when Peoria pulled Bacashihua in favor of an extra attacker.
The win was Milwaukee's 10th win in November, which ties a team record for wins in a month. Finley picked up the victory to improve his record to 5-0-0 on the season, while Pivko added two assists for the Admiral offense.
The Admirals take the road for their next four games before hosting the Grand Rapids Griffins on December 9th at 7 pm at the Bradley Center. The first 5,000 fans in attendance at that game will receive an ice scrapper courtesy of the Milwaukee Brewers.
