Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

Winnipeg, MB - The Hamilton Bulldogs gained one point, as they were defeated 4-3 in a shootout by the Manitoba Moose on Wednesday night at the MTS Centre. The Bulldogs record now stands at 8-14-0-2.

Corey Locke gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead just 1:09 into the game when he scored his seventh goal of the season. Brad Winchester and Danny Syvret earned assists. The Bulldogs increased their lead to 2-0 at 10:25 of the opening frame with a power-play marker on a give-and-go play between Francis Lemieux and Jean-Francois Jacques. Lemieux carried the puck across the Moose blueline, passed it to Jacques, then drove to the net and buried the return feed from Jacques past Manitoba netminder Sebastien Centomo.

The Moose tied the game before the end of the period, scoring two power-play goals in a span of 1:50. Former Bulldog Sven Butenschon cut the Bulldogs lead in half at 13:54 with the Moose on a two-man advantage when he took a one-time shot from just inside the blueline that beat Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis. Manitoba evened the score at 15:44 when Alexandre Burrows, who was positioned in front of the Bulldogs crease, tapped-in a Jesse Schultz pass.

Jimmy Roy gave the Moose a 3-2 lead just 43 seconds into the second period as he fired a high wrist shot over the blocker of a screened Danis.

With the Bulldogs on the power play at 13:15 of the third period, Brad Winchester one-timed a Marc-Antoine Pouliot centering pass to tie the game at 3-3.

The Moose outshot the Bulldogs 2-1 in a scoreless overtime period.

Manitoba scored on their first three shootout attempts as Jozef Balej, Ryan Bayda, and Jesse Schultz all beat Danis. Andrei Kostitsyn scored the lone shootout goal for Hamilton.

Bulldogs netminder Danis made 25 saves, while Moose goaltender Centomo stopped 18 shots.

Both teams scored two goals on the power play, with Hamilton having nine opportunities to Manitoba's seven chances.

The Bulldogs next game will take place on Friday, December 2, when the Toronto Maple Leafs AHL Affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, visit Copps Coliseum for the third time this season. Both teams will be wearing specialty jerseys honouring the rivalry between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts. Tiger-Cat and Argonaut players and alumni will be in attendance. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at Copps Coliseum Box Office (in-person sales only), any Ticketmaster outlet, online at ticketmaster.ca or at Sports Obsession in Jackson Square.
