It Only Takes One: Wade and 'Dogs Beat Trenton 1-0

August 24, 2019 - Eastern League (EL) - Portland Sea Dogs News Release

Portland, Maine - Konner Wade hurled seven scoreless innings and the Sea Dogs (29-33) shutout the Trenton Thunder (33-31) 1-0 on Saturday night at Hadlock Field.

Wade (W, 5-4) allowed just four hits while walking one and striking out four.

The Sea Dogs scored the games lone run in the second inning off of Shawn Semple. After a leadoff double by Luke Tendler, he stood at third with two outs when Dylan Hardy hit a ground ball to first that got by Brandon Wagner and allowed Tendler to score on the E3.

Semple (L, 0-3) allowed just the unearned run on three hits over five innings. He struck out seven and walked none.

Eduard Bazardo worked a scoreless eighth for Portland. Dedgar Jimenez (S, 8) earned the save with two strikeouts in the ninth.

The Sea Dogs and Trenton Thunder (Yankees affiliate) end a four-game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM from Hadlock Field. RHP Denyi Reyes (7-11, 4.09) takes on Trenton's righty Rony Garcia (3-11, 4.63). Radio coverage on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network begins at 12:45 PM.
