Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

It was a stellar week on the mound and at the plate for the Albuquerque Isotopes as outfielder John Gall and starting pitcher Frankie De La Cruz have each nabbed Pacific Coast League Player of the Week honors for games beginning on June 9 and continuing through June 15, the league announced today. It is the first time since July of last year that two players from the same team have claimed PCL Batter and Pitcher accolades in the same week.

For the second time this season, Gall earned PCL Batter of the Week honors, this time after batting a scorching .600 (20x33) for the week with eight runs scored, eight doubles, a homer, and 11 RBI. On June 14, Gall became the third Isotope in history to record five hits in a game with a five-for-five performance in which he hit three doubles. In each of his last two games, Gall has driven in three runs. Gall becomes the first player in Isotopes history to win PCL Batter of the Week honors twice, with his first accolade this season coming on April 14-20.

In two starts this week, De La Cruz posted two wins and a miniscule 0.75 ERA (1 ER / 12.0 IP). The right-hander began the week on June 10 by allowing one hit through six shutout innings before following that up with another stellar performance on June 15 in which he allowed one run on five hits in six innings to claim his team-high eighth win of the season.
